The petitioners through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India are seeking setting aside of order dated 23.09.2024 whereby respondent has not granted seniority from the date of their colleagues.

The respondent recruited 7416 candidates in District Police Cadre and 2501 in State Armed Police. The selection related to 2016 advertisement. Few candidates filed writ petitions assailing select/waiting list. The writ petitions were allowed and respondent revised the result. 201 candidates, as per orders of this Court, were recruited. Their recruitment took place in 2022 even though their colleagues were selected during November-December' 2016. The petitioners claimed that they should be granted seniority from the date their juniors were selected. CWP No. 30014 of 2025 -2by impugned order dated 23.09.2024 has re-fixed seniority of 173 officials including petitioners.

Learned State counsel submits that petitioners have already been granted notional benefits and salary as per judgement of Division Bench this Court in a bunch of petitions including CWP No. 17064 of 2017, titled as "Ajay Singla and othrs vs. State of Punjab and others" would be considered, the moment Special Leave Petition (Civil) Dairy No. 44844 of 2023 is adjudicated by Hon'ble Supreme Court. 4.

Faced with this, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that she does not press the petition, at this stage, however, liberty may be granted to approach at an appropriate stage, if need arises. 5.
