PANKAJ JAIN, J. (ORAL) Petitioner seeks direction to the respondents to grant three weeks parole to the him under Section 3(1)(b) read with Section 3(2)(b) of the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 1962 so that he can attend marriage of his nephew.

State Counsel has produced copy of the report filed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub Division Nakodar, Police Station Sadar Nakodar dated 18th of December, 2023. As per which the factum of there being marriage in the family of the sister of the petitioner stands verified. Counsel for the petitioner further submits that the petitioner is only brother and his sister is a widow and thus the petitioner is required for the marriage functions in all customary rites and ceremonies. In view of above, the petitioner is directed to be released on parole. He be released on 21st of December, 2023 subject to the satisfaction of the Jail Authorities concerned. The petitioner shall surrender back on 27th of December, 2023.
