Prayer in the instant petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of directions to the official respondents to provide police protection to the petitioner and his family members. Besides, prayer has also been made for issuance of directions to official respondents No.2 & 3 to ensure free, fair and impartial investigation in FIR No.211, dated 17.09.2025, under Sections 109, 61(2), 191(3), 190 of BNSS, 2023 and Section 25 of the Arms Act, 1959, registered at Police Station Division No.6, District Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana (Annexure P-3).

In the present case, after issuance of notice of motion by the Coordinate Bench of this Court vide order dated 09.10.2025, reply dated 26.10.2025, by way of affidavit of Satwinder Singh Virk, PPS, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Industrial Area-B, Ludhiana, has been filed on

- 2 - behalf of respondents No.1 to 4 in compliance of the said order. 3.

Learned State counsel submits that keeping in view the safety of the petitioner and his family members, two police officials from Police Lines, Ludhiana, have been deputed for their security vide GD No.7, dated 30.09.2025. Besides, Bhagwan Dass and his son Vishal Gupta (petitioner herein) have been granted new arms licences by the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana.

The relevant paragraph No.13 of the aforesaid reply dated 26.10.2025 is reproduced hereunder:- "13.

That keeping in view the safety of the petitioner and his family members, two police officials from Police Lines, Ludhiana, were deputed for their security vide GD No. 7 dated 30.09.2025. Bhagwan Dass and his son Vishal Gupta (petitioner) have been granted new arms licenses by the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana. The CDI, Police Lines, Ludhiana, has provided them the training and detailed instructions regarding the maintenance of arms and ammunition, as well as the procedures for loading, unloading, and the precautions to be observed while carrying firearms (Weapons) The investigation of the case is being conducted with due consideration to every relevant aspect. It is submitted that the application dated 24.09.2025 requires no further action at this stage. Moreover, the Station House Officer, Police Station Division No.

6, has been directed to ensure the prompt arrest of the remaining accused and to initiate proceedings for cancellation of the bail granted to Vikas Sharma, so that the complete facts of the case may come to light and justice may be delivered to the complainant. The Station House Officer has also been instructed to personally supervise and conduct the investigation to ensure its fair and proper completion. A copy of the report dated 25.10.2025 is attached herewith as Annexure R1." 4.

Since police protection has already been provided to the

- 3 - petitioner and his family members, this Court does not find any substantial reason to continue with the instant petition or to issue any further directions in the matter.
