Petitioner No.1 - Navneet Kaur aged about 18 years, and petitioner No.2 - Sukhpreet Singh aged about 18 years, have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to the official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents, having married against the wishes of their families. 2.

Notice of motion.

At this stage, Mr. C.L. Pawar, Addl.A.G., Punjab, upon whom an advance copy of petition had already been served, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.

Learned State counsel, upon instructions from ASI Amarbeer Singh, has informed that statements of petitioner No.1 - Navneet Kaur and of her father have been recorded by the police on 3.1.2024, wherein they have Pankaj Kakkar 2024.01.10 18:08 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document

CRWP-12237-2023 (O&M) ( 2 ) 2024:PHHC:002436 categorically stated that they do not apprehend any kind of threat to their lives and liberty. The copies of aforesaid statements have been furnished by learned State counsel, which are taken on record. 5.

Faced with the aforestated position, learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that he may be permitted to withdraw the present petition, at this stage, with liberty to file afresh at a later stage, in case there is any threat to life and liberty of the petitioners.

In view of the aforesaid submission, the instant petition is dismissed as withdrawn with liberty aforesaid.
