The present petition is for grant of issuance of appropriate directions to the respondents No. 1 to 5 to protect the life and liberty of petitioner by providing police protection/security to the petitioner. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has very fairly submitted that although with regard to the incident, the FIR is already been lodged but the locals have informed that the person against whom he has lodged the FIR are dangerous people and he should take care of his family. Faced with the above, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing this petition. 3.

Mr. Siddharth Attri, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State.

In light of the above, the present petition stands disposed of, with a direction to respondents No. 3 to 5 to look into the representation dated 30.11.2023 (Annexure P-1) and if required, assess the threat perception and in case, any security is required to be granted to the petitioner, the same shall be done on the payment of cost for the period to be assessed by the authorities.

It is made clear that filing or pendency of this petition or any order/direction passed in this petition shall not be an alibi or defence to the petitioner, in case, he is found involved in any illegal activity and the respondent-Authorities shall take appropriate action, in accordance with law.
