On 04.01.2024, the following order was passed: "The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondents to re-issue him passport.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that in terms of order dated 02.11.2023 passed by JMIC, Ambala, the petitioner applied for re-issuance of passport, however, application of the petitioner is still pending.

Notice of motion, returnable for 19.01.2024.

Ms. Neha Sharma, Senior Panel Counsel for Union of India, who on advance notice is present in Court, accepts notice and waives service. She seeks time to get instructions.

Mr. Nikhil Mittal, counsel for the petitioner submits that as per order dated 02.11.2023 passed by JMIC, Ambala, the petitioner has to deposit passport with trial court after being re-issued by passport authority. The trial is still pending and he is not seeking permission to visit abroad whereas he is seeking re-issuance of passport which would be deposited with trial court.

Ms. Neha Sharma, Senior Panel Counsel for Union of India submits that application of the petitioner is under consideration and it would be disposed of in accordance with law within two months from today. 4.

In the wake of statement of counsel for Union of India, the petition stands disposed of.
