Prayer in this writ petition filed by the petitioners under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondents to release the payment of arrears of revised pay/pension to the petitioners/retirees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for the period from 01.01.2016 to 30.06.2021 on the basis of implementation of Punjab State Power Corporation (Revised Pay) Regulations, 2021, along with interest @ 18% per annum.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that for claiming the aforesaid relief, the petitioners have submitted a legal notice dated 10.09.2024 (Annexure P-5) and at this stage, the petitioners would be satisfied, if the said legal notice is decided by passing a speaking order within a time bound frame.

Mr. Rajesh Sehgal, Addl. A.G., Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 and 2 and Mr. Sachit Khurana, Advocate, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.3 to 7 and have no objection to the innocuous prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioners. 5.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record of the case.

Without going into the merits of the case at this stage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.4 to consider and decide the legal notice dated 10.09.2024 (Annexure P-5), submitted by the petitioners expeditiously, by passing a speaking order, preferably within a period of three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
