The present writ petition has been filed under Articles 226 and 227 of the Constitution of India praying for decision on the applications filed by the petitioner dated 12.07.2022 (Annexure P-2) and 25.10.2022 (Annexure P-4) followed by legal notices dated 24.05.2023 (Annexures P-5 & P-6) for grant of exemption from payment of Motor Vehicles Tax in respect of Permit No. 738/R/S/06 and Stage Carriage Permit No. 156/R/S/89, respectively. The reason for the request is that the vehicles in question has remained idle and remained un-operational as the permit had not been made functional due to non-grant of timings for the routes Sri Hargobindpur to Ramdass Via Mehta, Amritsar and Anjala and route Amritsar to Dhianpur. 2.

Mr. Saurabh Kapoor, Addl. A.G., Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.

Keeping in view the limited relief and the fact that the permits which have been appended are valid till 30.01.2027 (Annexure P-1) and 12.09.2026 (Annexure P-3) and the decision making is incomplete, we do not feel it appropriate to call upon the State to file reply as it will only delay the decision making process. Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of with directions to respondent No. 3 to decide the legal notices dated 24.05.2023 (Annexure P-5 & Annexure P-6) within a period of 6 weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of the order.
