Having heard learned counsel for the petitioners, but without commenting anything as regards merits of the case or as regards veracity of averments made in the petition, the instant petition is disposed off with a direction to SHO, Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar to look into the matter and to get the representation dated 20.11.2024 (Annexure P-1) (although addressed to The Station House Officer, Women Cell, Amritsar) examined to the limited extent of alleged threat perception of the petitioners. In case, it is found that there is any gunine threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps as may be warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners in any manner.

It is, however, made clear that the aforesaid directions shall not be construed as any kind of protection in case the petitioners are required to be arrested in connection with any FIR lodged against them.
