*** HARSH BUNGER, J. (Oral) The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India inter alia seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus for directing the respondents to re-issue the passport of the petitioner.

Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has handed over a copy of letter dated 23.10.2025, received by the petitioner from the Regional Passport Office, Jalandhar, whereby an explanation has been sought from the petitioner as regards his place of birth. The same is taken on record, subject to all just exceptions.

2.1 Learned counsel for the petitioner prays that he may be permitted to withdraw the instant writ petition at this stage with liberty to the petitioner to respond to the aforesaid letter dated 23.10.2025. HIMANI GUPTA 2025.11.13 09:26 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

In view of the above, the present writ petition is dismissed as withdrawn at this stage with liberty to the petitioner to respond to letter dated 23.10.2025.

It goes without saying that in case, the petitioner renders a justifiable explanation in pursuance of letter dated 23.10.2025, the passport authorities shall consider the application, seeking re-issuance of the passport, submitted by the petitioner and pass an appropriate order, in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date when such explanation is rendered by the petitioner.
