MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J. (ORAL) Petitioner is seeking issuance of directions to respondent No.2 to protect his life and liberty. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the petitioner has been cited as a prosecution witness in a murder case. The accused in the said case have been extending threats of dire consequences to him. Even earlier, he had received similar threats, as a result of which he had been provided security. However, during elections, the cover provided to the petitioner had been withdrawn. Hence, it has been urged that the official respondents be directed to look into the threat perception and take immediate steps so that the life and liberty of the petitioner can be protected at the hands of the accused persons, who are continuing to threaten him with dire consequences in case he steps into the witness box to depose against them in the murder case. It has been submitted that a representation dated 24.10.2024 (Annexure P-1) was given to Senior Superintendent of Police, Mansa. But had been in vain.
