Petitioner has filed the instant Writ Petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ in the nature of Mandamus for directing the respondents to frame the new election criteria and eligibility for the candidates contesting the elections of State Assembly, Municipal Corporation, Municipal Committee and Members of the Village Panchayats in State of Punjab by framing the policy and guidelines with regard to the above said elections. A further prayer has been made by the petitioner for deciding his representation dated 21.10.2023 (Annexure P-1). 2.

Petitioner submits that for redressal of his grievance, he has already made a representation dated 21.10.2023 (Annexure P-1) to the concerned authority, but the same has not been adverted to by the respondents till date. Petitioner submits that he would be satisfied if respondent No.5 is directed to consider and decide his representation dated 21.10.2023 (Annexure P-1).

Learned State counsel appearing for the State of Punjab does not raise any objection to the prayer made by petitioner and submits that in case representation dated 21.10.2023 (Annexure P-1) has been served upon respondent No.5, then the same shall be considered and decided by concerned Authority in accordance with law.

In view of the above and without commenting on the merits of the case, the Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.5 to consider the representation dated 21.10.2023 (Annexure P-1) of the petitioner and pass an appropriate order, in accordance with law, at the earliest.
