On 29.12.2023, the following order was passed:- "The petitioner herein prays for protection of life and liberty of his wife, who is allegedly kidnapped by her parents. It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner married Smt. Khushi Devi on 20.11.2023. Previously, they have also filed a petition for protection of life and liberty, which was disposed of with the directions. Thereafter, the private respondents promised to marry Smt. Khushi Devi to the petitioner according to their customs but subsequently, backed out. In the meantime, Smt. Khushi Devi has been illegally detained. The petitioner apprehends that some permanent damage may be caused to Smt. Khushi Devi by the private respondents.

Criminal Writ Petition No. 12582 of 2023 State of Punjab was requested to take instructions, however, he submits that the police has received representation, which is being looked into.
Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur, Punjab, is directed to appear in person on 01.01.2024."

In deference to the aforesaid order, Mr. S.S.Chahal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur, is present in the Court. He submits that the girl, namely Khushi Devi has been recovered and an official, who was negligent in performing his duty, has been issued a show cause notice. 3.
The learned counsel representing the petitioner also admits that the writ petition is rendered infructuous.
