(! $&) ******* KARAMJIT SINGH, J.(Oral) The present criminal writ petition has been filed by the petitioners seeking direction to respondents No.1 to 3 to safeguard their life and liberty from the hands of respondents No. 4 to 5. 2.

Counsel for the petitioners inter alia submits that both the petitioners who are unmarried are living together with their own free will and consent and both of them have already attained the age of majority. However, the said relationship is being opposed by respondents No.4 to 5 who are extending threats to cause physical harm to the petitioners and in this regard, representation dated 02.12.2024 (Annexure P-3) was given to respondent No.2 i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala but the police authorities failed to take any action. 3.

+/ accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 and on instructions from ASI Krishan Chand submits that both the petitioners appeared before the police authorities and made joint statement to the effect that now they are not apprehending any threat from the side of private respondents and the copy of the said joint statement produced by the State counsel is taken on record.

However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion regarding the validity of the relationship between the petitioners. It is also made clear that respondents No.4 to 5 are at liberty to avail appropriate remedy available to them under law against the petitioners. In case the petitioners have committed any offence, law will take its own course.
