Advocate General, Punjab. **** SHEEL NAGU, CHIEF JUSTICE (Oral) Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Advocate, who is proxy counsel, prays for adjournment on the ground that arguing counsel is unwell. Since the platform of virtual hearing is always available and therefore, the arguing counsel could have joined the Court proceedings from his home. Accordingly, this Court proceeds to decide the matter on-merits in the absence of the arguing counsel. 2.

The petitioner apprehends his arrest in respect of offences of cheating and criminal intimidation in FIR No. 67 dated 03.08.2023 under Sections 420 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code registered at Police Station Qadian Batala, District Gurdaspur, where a promise was made by the petitioner-accused for getting employment for the son of complainant after taking money to the tune of Rs. 3.50 lacs.

The investigation is going on and yet to be completed and therefore, for the time being the anticipatory bail filed by the petitioner stands dismissed with liberty to revisit the Court after conclusion of the investigation.
