SANJEEV PRAKASH SHARMA, J.(Oral) This Letters Patent Appeal has been preferred by the appellant/writ-petitioner against the judgment dated 11.11.2024 passed by the learned Single Judge in CWP No.3126 of 2023 titled as 'Satyabir Singh Vs. Union of India and others'.

Learned counsel for the appellant submits that the appellant's GPF amount was admittedly paid after a delay of 10 months and therefore, the interest accrued on the GPF amount should be released for the period from 29.02.2020 to 05.01.2021.

The appellant was retired on 29.02.2020 during the COVID-19 period. The respondents had submitted their reply which has been extensively quoted by the learned Single Judge wherein the reasons for delay have been explained.

Keeping in view the same, we find that the interest would not be payable as there cannot be any fault on the part of the respondents and it was not possible to release the amount during COVID-19. In absence of availability of money transactions, interest was not payable. Even otherwise, we find that the appellant did not choose to appear before the learned Single Judge. In all these circumstances, no case is made out to interfere with the impugned order passed by the learned Single Judge. 6.

The present appeal is, accordingly, dismissed. 7.
