(ORAL) Learned State counsel at the outset, on instructions from Inspector Amritpal Singh, has informed the Court that the trial is nearing conclusion with the case now fixed for recording of evidence of the defence witnesses. He submits that in all likelihood, the trial would, therefore, be concluding very shortly.

In the circumstances, learned counsel for the petitioner does not press the instant petition. However, he submits that directions be issued to the trial Court to expedite the trial since the petitioner has been in custody since 29.10.2021.

Dismissed as not pressed. However, learned trial Court is directed to positively conclude the trial within the next three months from today.
