This is a petition filed for anticipatory bail under Section 482 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 in case bearing FIR No.100 dated 10.09.2024 under Section 109, 308(4), 351(3), 3(5) of BNS, 2023 and Section 25/27 of Arms Act, 1959 at Police Station Dera Baba Nanak, Police District Batala.

The case of the prosecution is that the complainant received a call from unknown number on his whatsapp and the caller identified as Harpreet Singh @ Chatha who demanded Rs.1 crore from the complainant and threatened to kill him and his family in case of non payment of the said amount. Subsequently, on the next day, unknown motorcycle riders came in front his house at about 11.01 pm and started firing at gate and 5-6 shots hit on the iron gate.

CRM-M-64622-2025 -23. This Court, vide order dated 20.12.2024, had directed the petitioner to appear before the Investigating Officer and join investigation and in the event of his arrest, he was ordered to be released on ad-interim bail to the satisfaction of the Investigating/Arresting Officer, subject to the conditions envisaged under Section 482 BNS.

Learned State counsel on instructions states that the petitioner has joined the investigation and is not required for custodial interrogation. 5.

In view of the submissions of learned counsel for the petitioner especially when the petitioner has cooperated with the investigating officer, the order dated 20.12.2024 granting interim bail to the petitioner is made absolute. 6.

However, the petitioner shall abide by the conditions stipulated under Section 482, BNS. He shall also join investigation as and when called upon to do so.

The petition stands allowed.
