*** HARSH BUNGER, J. (Oral) The instant Writ Petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India inter alia seeking a writ in the nature of Mandamus for directing respondent No.2 to renew the passport of the petitioner.

Mr. Amit Sharma, Senior Panel Counsel, who has appeared on behalf of the respondent(s)-Union of India, pursuant to the advance copy of petition having been sent to the Union of India, informs the Court that the application seeking renewal of the passport, submitted by the petitioner was considered and as per the police verification report, it was found that one FIR No.21, dated 20.03.2024 is pending against the petitioner and accordingly, a show cause notice dated 07.01.2025 has been issued to her. 3.

At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioner prays that he may be permitted to withdraw the instant writ petition with liberty to the HIMANI GUPTA 2025.01.09 14:42 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document/judgment High Court, Chandigarh

CWP-27-2025 (O&M) -2petitioner to approach the Passport Authorities by submitting a reply to the show cause notice. It is further submitted that appropriate directions may be issued to the respondent-Authorities to consider the application seeking renewal of the passport of the petitioner in a time bound manner. 4.

Learned counsel for the respondent(s)-Union of India submits that the application submitted by the petitioner for renewal of the passport would be considered expeditiously and preferably within a period of eight weeks from the date the petitioner submits her response to the show cause notice.

Keeping in view the aforesaid submissions made by learned counsel for the parties and without commenting on the merits of the case, the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the concerned Officer/Authority to consider the application seeking renewal of the passport, submitted by the petitioner expeditiously and preferably within a period of eight weeks from the date the petitioner submits her response to the show cause notice.
