The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent to release payment with respect to work of filling of earth in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Technical College, Ferozepur along with interest @ 12% per annum.

Learned State counsel submits that work carried out by petitioner is not disputed. The petitioner on the asking of PWD carried out work in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Technical College, Ferozepur. The matter is under consideration. The spot inspection has already been carried out.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that respondent may be subjected to interest @ 6% per annum from the date of passing bills.

In the wake of statement of State counsel, the petition stands disposed of with direction to release admitted liability within two months from today along with interest @ 6% per annum from the date of passing bills. It is made clear that if payment is not released within aforesaid period, the rate of interest would be 9% from the expiry of said period. 5.
