The petitioner prays for issuance of a writ in the nature of habeas corpus for release of as many as five detenues who were illegally taken into custody by the Station House Officer, Police Station Mehatpur, Tehsil Shahkot, District Jalandhar, at 11.30 P.M. on 26.12.2024. 2.

This petition came up for hearing today 1.25 P.M. and the learned State counsel was directed to get complete information. He, on the instructions of Mr. Onkar Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shahkot, Jalandhar, has submitted that the petitioners have been apprehended in FIR No. 162 dated 26.12.2024, registrered under Sections 109, 55, 326(g), 351(3) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, 1959 and they shall be produced in the Court of Area Judicial Magistrate today itself.
