M/S Punjab Khadi Mandal v. Employees Provident Fund Organization And Another
IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA
AT CHANDIGARH CWP-34787-2025 Date of Decision : March 18, 2026 M/S PUNJAB KHADI MANDAL -PETITIONER V/S EMPLOYEES PROVIDENT FUND ORGANIZATION AND ANOTHER -RESPONDENTS
CORAM:
HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE KULDEEP TIWARI
Present:
Mr. Surendra Mohan Sharma, Advocate for the petitioner.
*** KULDEEP TIWARI, J. (ORAL) 1.
The challenge enclosed in the instant writ petition is to the interim order dated 06.08.2025 passed by the respondent No.2- Central Government Industrial Tribunal, whereby the appeal preferred by the petitioner under Section 7-I of the Employees Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 (hereinafter referred to as the "EPF Act") against the order dated 02.06.2025, has been ordered to be registered as regular appeal, and the petitioner has been directed to deposit 25% of the total assessed amount under Section 14-B of the EPF Act with the authority concerned, within 30 days from the date of the order. 2.
This Court has heard the submissions advanced by learned counsel for the petitioner and is of the view that the direction to deposit 25% of the total assessed amount is neither disproportionate nor beyond the powers of the Central Government Industrial Tribunal. Moreover, learned counsel for the petitioner has been unable to point out any illegality in the impugned order warranting interference of this Court. DEVINDER YADAV 2026.03.19 09:47 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment
CWP-34787-2025 3.
At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioner requests that, since the direction to deposit 25% of the total assessed amount could not be complied with owing to the pendency of the instant writ petition, some additional time be granted to comply with the said direction. 4.
Considering the request of learned counsel for the petitioner to be fair and innocuous, the petitioner is granted a further period of 30 days to deposit the 25% of the total assessed amount, as directed in the impugned interim order, with the authority concerned.
5.
Disposed of accordingly.
