The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent to release enhanced special family pension w.e.f. 01.12.2011. 2.

The petitioner's husband was serving in the Punjab Police and died on 20.06.1992 in a terrorist attack. The petitioner was granted special family pension. The State Government enhanced special family pension w.e.f. 18.10.2017 whereas she was entitled from 01.12.2011. Many similarly situated families approached this Court and respondent granted enhanced pension w.e.f. 01.12.2011. The petitioner has served legal notice dated 02.08.2025 upon respondent seeking enhanced family pension w.e.f. 01.12.2011.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that claim of petitioner is not disputed by State rather State has already forwarded her claim on 20.10.2021 to District Treasury Officer. The District Treasury Officer, Sangrur vide letter dated 26.11.2021 intimated the petitioner that as per their record special family pension has been revised w.e.f. 01.12.2021 and her case has already been sent to concerned branch of the Bank still she has not received enhanced pension. 4.

Learned State counsel submits that State Government has already performed its duty. It is Bank who has to release arrears and revise pension of the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the respondent-Bank submits that as per his instructions, the Bank would release petitioner's arrears as per letter dated 26.11.2021 of the State Government within two weeks from today. 6.

In the wake of statement of both sides, the instant petition stands disposed of.
