Prayer in the present petition filed under Section 482 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (for short 'BNSS'), is for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner, in case FIR No. 0030 dated 20.3.2024, under Sections 498-A and 406 IPC, registered at Police Station Women, District SAS Nagar (Mohali).

Vide order dated 24.3.2026, the petitioner was directed to join investigation. The said order is reproduced hereinafter:- "x x x x Respondent No.2/complainant is present in person and on a specific query put to her by this Court, she submits that she does not wish to engage a counsel and fairly submits that the matter may be relegated to the mediation.

In light of the above, the petitioner is directed to join investigation on 25.03.2026 at 10:00 A.M. before the Investigating

-2 Officer and cooperate with the Investigating Agency, even thereafter.

In the event of arrest, the petitioner be released on interim bail subject to furnishing personal/surety bonds to the satisfaction of the Arresting/Investigating Officer and the petitioner shall abide by the conditions as envisaged under Section 482 of the BNSS, 2023.

It is made clear that, in case, the petitioner is found involved in any such activity once again, the present concession so granted shall automatically stand vacated.

In addition to the above, the parties are directed to appear before the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of this Court on 27.3.2026 for exploring a possibility of an amicable settlement. To await report of the Mediator, adjourned to 30.3.2026." 3.

Learned State counsel on instructions from ASI Karam Singh, submits that in compliance of order dated 24.3.2026, the petitioner has joined the investigation on 27.3.2026 and is not required for any further investigation.

Having considered the aforesaid facts and circumstances, the petition is allowed. Order dated 24.3.2026 passed by this Court, is hereby made absolute, subject to the condition enumerated under Section 482(2) BNSS.

This order should not be treated as "blanket" order. It will not be read as granting the petitioner(s) indefinite protection from arrest. It shall be confined to the FIR mentioned ibid and will not operate in respect of any other incident that involves commission of an offence. 6.

Liberty is reserved with the investigating agency/complainant to move to this Court for a direction under Section 483(3) of BNSS, 2023 (erstwhile Section 439(2) of Cr.P.C.), in the event of violation of any term, stipulated under Section 482(2) BNSS, or upon showing any other sufficient cause.
