The present petition has been filed seeking directions to respondents No. 3 to 6 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners and their family members at the hands of respondents No. 9 to 14, who in connivance with the supporters of ruling party and their accomplices are threatening the petitioners.

Learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners contends that primarily the grievance raised in the present petition pertains to the alleged unfair practices that may be adopted by the ruling government with a view to exert pressure upon petitioners and to dissuade them from contesting in the upcoming election.

I am afraid that the present petition is simply based on apprehensions which cannot be entertained by this Court. In the event the petitioners have any apprehensions regarding foul practices adopted by the administration in relation to conduct of free and fair elections, the appropriate remedy would lie elsewhere and not before this Court. 4.

Faced with the above, Counsel for the petitioners seeks withdrawal of the present petition so as to file an appropriate petition before the competent forum, if so advised.

Disposed of as withdrawn with liberty as aforesaid.
