This petition was instituted alleging that appropriate action was not being taken to prevent illegal mining in the area in question. 2.

While entertaining the writ petition, we called upon the respondents to examine the matter and file the personal affidavit of the Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur. In compliance with such directions, an affidavit has been filed stating that the illegal mining has been discontinued and that civil and criminal action has been initiated against guilty in accordance with law.

Learned counsel for the petitioners states that in view of the personal affidavit filed by the officer concerned, much of the petitioners' grievance stands redressed.
