The instant petition has been filed under Section 483 of BNSS, 2023 (corresponding Section 439 of Cr.P.C.), for grant of regular bail to the petitioner - Jasbhinder Singh @ Bhinda, who has been booked for having committed the offence punishable under Sections 21(c), 29 of NDPS Act, 1985 (Section 27 of NDPS Act, added later on), in FIR No. 27, dated 06.08.2023, registered at Police Station SSOC Fazilka, District Fazilka. 2.

Since, as per the allegations, petitioner Jasbhinder Singh @ Bhinda, along with co-accused Jagdeep Singh @ Bhuchar, was found in possession of 36 kg of heroin, which they were allegedly carrying on a motorcycle, the prayer for grant of regular bail to the petitioner is declined. However, considering the huge quantity allegedly smuggled from Pakistan, the learned trial Court is directed to expedite the trial and determine the role of the petitioner and other accused persons, preferably within a period of nine months from today.
