Prayer in the instant petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus for directing the respondents No.2 & 3, to protect the lives and liberty of the petitioners, who apprehend threat to their life at the hands of private respondents No.4 to 9, who are stated to be family members of petitioner No.1 and not to harass or interfere in the peaceful life of the petitioners. 3.

It has been mentioned in the petition that petitioners are in livein-relationship and are being threatened with dire consequences by the private respondents. Resultantly, a representation dated 15.12.2025 (Annexure P-3) was also made to respondent No.2-Commissioner of Police, District Ludhiana for protection of their lives and liberty but in vain. It has further been mentioned that they would be satisfied if directions are issued to respondent No.2-Commissioner of Police, District Ludhiana, to look into their representation and take appropriate steps at the earliest. In view of above, petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Commissioner of Police, District Ludhiana to provide necessary protection to the petitioners after considering threat perception to their life and liberty and to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioners is not jeopardized at the hands of the private respondents. 5.
