The instant petition has been filed for directing the respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner as well as his family members from the hands of unknown persons who are continuously threatening to eliminate them by making phone calls from unknown/foreign mobile numbers and demanding ransom but no action has been taken by Police in this regard.

Learned State counsel contends that as a matter of fact the threat perception of the petitioner has already been assessed and it was recommended that one armed police official be deployed with the petitioner for his protection.

Responding to the same, counsel for the petitioner contends that even though one armed police official has been deployed with the petitioner, however, when the said official proceeds on leave, no alternative MANGAL SINGH 2026.04.27 14:00 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CRWP-13845-2025 (O&M) arrangement is made by the respondents.

The present petition is accordingly disposed of at this stage with a direction to respondent No.3-Senior Superintendent of Police, Batala to consider the request made by the petitioner and to ensure that an appropriate leave arrangement is made till such time when the threat assessment of the petitioner reveals a consistent danger to his as well as his family members' life and liberty.

Let an appropriate decision be taken by the respondents within a period of two months. The remaining grievances of the petitioner with respect to the irregular timings of the gunman shall also be taken into consideration while examining the claim of the petitioner. (VINOD S.
