In this writ petition the petitioners have challenged an order dated December 23, 2022, issued by the Registrar, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University, whereby the University declined to conduct further counselling for admission of students to selffinanced B. Ed. colleges. It was the case of the petitioners that the University permitted an additional round of counselling for the Government Colleges while self-financed Colleges were not given such opportunity.

Pursuant to the order dated April 10, 2023, the University has filed its affidavit before this Court. The relevant portion of the said affidavit is quoted below: "1. It is stated that the aforesaid Writ application was filed challenging the action of the respondent university in not initiating second round of counseling in respect of the self-finance private B.Ed colleges for the academic year 2022-2024 despite the fact that such process was initiated in respect f the Government Colleges. The said matter was taken up by The Hon'ble Justice Kausik Chanda on several dates. The said matter was taken up for consideration on 10.04.2023 and after hearing the submissions advanced on behalf of the respective parties His Lordship was pleaded to direct the University to record its position vis-à-vis the admission and/or counseling process in respect of the selffinanced private colleges as well as the Government colleges.

2. It is stated that considering the controversy that has arisen in the aforesaid matter the university has taken a policy decision that henceforth the cut-off dates as mentioned in the schedule published by the state Government and University for completion on the admission process for upcoming academic sessions shall be strictly followed without any exception both as regards to the private institutions as well as the Government colleges."

Learned advocate appearing for the petitioners submits that in view of the stand disclosed by the University in its affidavit, the petitioners have no further grievance. He prays for disposal of the writ petition in terms of the stand disclosed by the University in its affidavit.

Since the University, in principle, accepted not to make any discrimination between the Government colleges and self-financed colleges with regard to the phase-wise counselling for admission of students in future, no effective purpose will be served by keeping this writ petition pending.

Accordingly, WPA 60 of 2023 is disposed of.
