1. Petitioner participated in the selection process for being appointed as Constable (GD) under Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

2. In Physical Standard Test (PST) height of the petitioner was measured as 169.2 cm. and petitioner was declared not eligible for the post of Constable (GD) since prescribed height is 170 cm. for male candidate.

3. Petitioner preferred an appeal questioning measurement of height taken on 22nd August, 2025 by sending letter dated 18th November, 2025. It is submitted that Deputy Inspector General, Appellate Authority on technical ground refused to take measurement of height of the petitioner while considering the appeal

and simply upheld the measurement of height taken in Physical Standard Test.

4. Union of India is represented by learned advocate who has opposed this writ petition by making submissions based on communication dated 10th December, 2025 issued by Deputy Inspector General, Appellate Authority.

5. Petitioner qualified in written test and participated in Physical Standard Test but height of the petitioner was found to be below prescribed limit in Physical Standard Test which led the petitioner to prefer an appeal on 18th November, 2025

6. Instead of raising technical point concerned respondent authority should have taken measurement of height of the petitioner while deciding the appeal that was not done as it emanates from communication dated 10th December, 2025 of Deputy Inspector General, Appellate Authority.

7. Hence, said communication dated 10th December, 2025 of the Deputy Inspector General, Appellate Authority is set aside.

8. Special Director General of Police, Central Zone, CRPF, Salt Lake, Kolkata being respondent no. 5 is directed to decide the appeal of the petitioner by taking

measurement of his height by fortnight from the date of communication of this order.

Decision to be taken by the respondent no. 5 shall be communicated to the petitioner by 7 (seven) days thereafter.

9. Writ petition stands disposed of.

10. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon usual undertakings.
