Matter is heard in view of urgency as explained before this Court upon placing it on board today. Mr. Bhattacharyya, learned Senior Advocate representing the petitioners submits that the issue involved in the writ petition relates to holding election for re-constitution of Board of Directors in Narasinghapur Asadtala Samabay Krishi Unnayan Samiti Ltd., Purba Medinipur. It is further submitted that the term of the Board expired on 12th November, 2022 and the election date was scheduled on 29th December, 2024. However, concerned authority of Co-operative Election Commission did not permit Narasinghapur Asadtala Samabay Krishi Unnayan Samiti Ltd. to hold election on 29h December, 2024 since necessary security arrangements could not be made by the concerned police authority.

Today Mr. Nayak, learned advocate representing the Co-operative Election Commission on instruction submits that the date of election has been fixed by the Co-operative Election Commission on 9th March, 2025. It is further submitted on behalf of petitioners, who are members of Narasinghapur Asadtala Samabay Krishi Unnayan Samiti Ltd. that election needs to be conducted at an early date.

Having considered the respective submissions made on behalf of the parties, writ petition stands disposed of directing the Co-operative Election Commission, West Bengal to hold election of Narasinghapur Asadtala Samabay Krishi Unnayan Samiti Ltd. on 9th March, 2025 and Superintendent of Police, Purba Medinipur being respondent no.9 is directed to extend all sorts of cooperation for holding free and fair election on the scheduled date.

Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon usual undertakings.
