This is an application seeking an expeditious disposal of a proceeding.

Let a copy of this petition be served upon Ms. Sukanya Bhattacharya and Mirza F.A. Begg, learned counsels who are present in court today and who ordinarily represent the State. Let their engagement be regularized by the competent authority of the State.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits as follows. Although the First Information Report was lodged in 2012 and even the charge-sheet was submitted in the same year, the charges could not be framed till date. The matter has not yet been committed to the learned Court of Sessions. The learned trial court adjourned the proceeding on numerous

occasions. The proceeding has remained pending for no fault of the present petitioners.

I have heard the learned counsels appearing on behalf of the petitioners and the State and have perused the revision petition.

No prejudice would be caused to anyone if a direction is passed for expeditious disposal of the proceeding. It appears that some delay has been caused in the conducting of the proceeding.

In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned Court below to conclude the proceeding for supply of copies and commitment of the accused as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties, preferably within three weeks from the date of communication of this order. With these observations, the revisional application being CRR 16 of 2021 is disposed of.

Urgent certified copy of this order be immediately made available to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities.
