The allegation of unauthorised construction raised by the petitioners was taken up for consideration by the Madhyamgram Municipality and an opportunity of hearing was granted to all the parties.

The petitioners complain that despite hearing conducted, the municipality is yet to take any consequential steps in the matter.

The proceeding under Section 218 of the West Bengal Municipal Act, 1993 is liable to be concluded at the earliest.

The Board of Councilors of the Municipality is directed to conclude the proceeding under Section 218 of the Act in accordance with law at the earliest but

positively within a period of sixteen weeks from the date of communication of this order.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
