The petitioner prays for an electricity connection for his submersible pump.

It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that notwithstanding the request for a fresh electricity connection, the WBSEDCL has taken no steps in the meantime.

On behalf of the WBSEDCL it is submitted that through initial steps had been taken there was strong resistance from the local farmers. In view of the submissions made on behalf of the WBSEDCL, WPA 365 of 2026 stands disposed of by directing the District Magistrate to consider the grievance of the petitioner for an electricity connection. In carrying of such exercise, the District Magistrate is directed to give notice to all affected parties and pass a reasoned order within twelve weeks from the date of communication of this order.

Since no affidavit has been filed, the allegations contained in the writ petition are not admitted.

It is made clear that there has been no adjudication on the merits of the case, all issues are left open for the District Magistrate to decide in accordance with law.
