Mr. Sajal Kanti Bhattacharyya ... for the respondent No.3 Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has not been granted pensionary benefits because his service fell short by a little more than one year. However, he had rendered service at the same College earlier on ad hoc basis. Reliance is placed on a decision of a Coordinate Bench of this Court, reported at 2014 (4) WBLR CAL 273.

Learned counsel for the State submits that a representation has been made in this regard in 2018 and a reminder to this effect was given in 2024. The same is still pending consideration.

It appears that the petitioner had made a representation praying for grant of pension before the DPI on 10.08.2018. He had given the reminder about it on

01.03.2024.

The said representation is pending consideration.

In view of the above, let the DPI consider the representation of the petitioner dated 10.08.2018 in accordance with law and upon giving opportunity of hearing to the petitioner as expeditiously as possible, preferably within eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

It is made clear that the merits of the case have not been gone into.

With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.

As affidavits were not called for, the allegations made are deemed not to have been admitted.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of requisite formalities.
