Public Prosecutor Mr. Santanu Deb Roy ... for the State It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that she is in custody for about 148 days. It is further submitted allegations are general and omnibus. Co-accused has been enlarged on bail. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor opposes the prayer for bail and submits victim-housewife was tortured over demands of dowry.

She committed suicide within four months of marriage. We have considered the materials on record. Victim-housewife committed suicide within four months of marriage. Co-accused who ordinarily did not reside at the matrimonial home and was an aged person had been granted bail. Petitioner is the mother-in-law of the victim-housewife and does not stand on the same footing with the said co-accused. In view of the gravity of the offence and prima facie involvement of the petitioner in the alleged crime, we are not inclined to grant bail to her at this stage.

The application for bail is thus rejected.
