The petitioner belongs to the opposition political dispensation in the State. That is why he has to often face the wrath of the local miscreants belonging to the ruling political party. The private respondents and other miscreants had threatened and intimidated the petitioner and drove him out of his own residence. The last incident of threat took place in front of police officials. This was reported to the police, but no action was taken.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the private respondents denies the allegations and submits that as the private respondent belonging to the ruling political dispensation, the petitioner and others belonging to the opposition party are in the habit of making such allegations.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State relies on the report and submits as follows. The police have already taken steps on the complaint of the petitioner and escorted the petitioner back to his residence. He is staying there peacefully and without any disturbance. The police would render all possible help for the security and safety of the petitioner and his family members. Appropriate GD entry has already been lodged and a proceeding has also been initiated under Section 107 of the Code.

It appears that the police have already acted on the complaint of the petitioner. Not only has the petitioner's possession of his property been restored, but action has also been taken by recording a GD entry and initiating a proceeding under Section 107 of the Code.

Therefore, no further order need be passed in this regard.

However, the police authorities shall keep a sharp vigil at the locale and ensure that no harm is done to the present petitioner and his family members. The surveillance shall include frequent visits by police patrol.

The police shall also try to install as many CCTVs as possible in the locality to strengthen vigil. If any untoward incident occurs or is apprehended by the petitioner, he shall be at liberty to call up the Officer in Charge of Jibantala Police Station who shall then act in accordance with law.

So far as the security arrangement is concerned, the

Superintendent of Police, Baruipur Police District shall be kept in the loop by the local police authorities. With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.
