This revisional application has been preferred for expeditious disposal of the NDPS Case No. 130/2017 under Sections 20(b)(ii)(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

Petitioner submits that the trial of the case has been delayed. Only two witnesses have been examined so far. The petitioner is in custody and an expeditious trial is necessary for the ends of justice.

Mr. Phiroz Edulji, learned advocate appears on behalf of the opposite party.

In this pandemic situation delay in disposal of a trial cannot be attributed to the learned judge

conducting the trial. Keeping in the mind the innocuous nature of prayer made in the application, I dispose of this application giving a direction on the learned Additional Sessions Judge, 6th Additional Judge (NDPS Act), Barasat, North 24 Parganas to make an endeavour to conclude the trial within a period of one year from date without granting any unnecessary adjournments.

The report filed on behalf of the opposite party be kept with the record.

The revisional application is disposed of.
