AD 8 April 21, 2026 Ct. 28 SG CRM(A) 137 of 2026 CRAN 1 of 2026 An application for relaxation of the condition of anticipatory bail.

And In the matter of: Rani Begum and others ... petitioners Md. Ejaz Akhtar Ms. Alvina Bhaktiyar ... for the petitioners Mr. Bitasok Banerjee Mr. Subhajit Chowdhury ... for the State Report filed by the State is taken on record. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that by an order dated 11.02.2026 in CRM(A) 137 of 2026, the petitioners were granted anticipatory bail while the prayer for anticipatory bail of the co-accused being the petitioner No.4 was rejected. The anticipatory bail was granted on the conditions that the petitioners would be released on bail upon furnishing a bond of Rs.10,000/- each with two sureties of like amount each, one of whom must be local. However, the petitioners could not find local surety and the amount of bond was also too high for them. That is why the petitioners could not avail the benefit of the order of anticipatory bail.

Heard learned counsel for the State.

It appears that the petitioners are not in a position to furnish a bond of such amount and are also unable to find a local surety.

In view of the above, the petitioners shall be released on bail upon furnishing a bond of Rs.5,000/- each with two sureties of like amount each. Instead of local surety, the petitioners shall be entitled to arrange registered surety. Other conditions of anticipatory bail would remain the same. As the time has already elapsed, let the petitioners surrender before the jurisdictional court and pray for bail within three weeks from this date.

With these observations, the application for relaxation of the condition of anticipatory bail is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of requisite formalities.
