Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner in CRM 2339 of 2021 submitted that with the efflux of time the petitioner therein, namely, Priyanka Chowdhury @ Moon has been released on statutory bail. We are immediately not inclined to accept the request to dismiss that CRM 2339 of 2021 as not pressed for that reason.

2. We make this cautious approach because we have before us the entire papers of CRM 2339 of 2021 and FMA 517 of

2020 in which there is an application by the CBI for extension of time to complete the investigation.

3. Having given our thoughtful consideration to the contents of the materials in both those sets of papers, we think that we should not leave this matter without a further look into as to whether or not there is any room for us to feel that the investigation is inappropriate or not proceeding in the proper direction.

4. We make this statement as a part of this order only to alert the CBI to make submissions before us regarding the progress of the investigation including by bringing on record a short report in a sealed cover, if they feel the same is necessary.

5. To enable the aforesaid, list CRM 2339 of 2021 and FMA 517 of 2020 as the first item on 13.04.2021.
