Ray Ms. Manisha Sharma ...for the State This is an application seeking an expeditious disposal of a proceeding in which a charge-sheet was submitted under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.

Let a copy of this application be served upon Mr. Bidyut Kr. Ray and Ms. Manisha Sharma, learned advocates, who are present in Court today and who ordinarily appear on behalf of the State. Their engagement may be regularised in due course by the competent authority of the State.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is the defacto-complainant in this case. He is a senior citizen. He lodged the present First Information Report in

January 2019. Although a charge-sheet was submitted in February 2019, till date even charges could not be framed. The proceeding has remained pending for no fault of the present petitioner.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State submits that no inordinate delay has been occasioned in concluding the present proceeding. Due to huge backlog of cases, people are facing custody trial since 2017 under the NDPS Act.

I have heard the submissions of the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the parties and have perused the revision petition.

It appears that no inordinate delay has been occasioned in concluding the impugned proceeding. In view of the same, no further order need be passed in this case.

However, it is expected that the learned trial Court shall conclude the proceeding as expeditiously as possible.

With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of.
