Ms. Pampa Dey Dhabal ...for the Petitioner Mr. Debanjan Mukherjee ...for WBSEDCL The petitioner challenges two notices dated December 12, 2024, and December 17, 2024, issued by the Divisional Engineer (Electrical) and the Station Manager, Charghat Customer Care Centre, West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as 'WBSEDCL').
By the said notices, the petitioner was directed to deposit the alleged outstanding dues in respect of two domestic service connections pertaining to his two residential premises.
Learned counsel appearing on behalf of WBSEDCL submits that there are outstanding dues amounting to ₹1,60,367.43 and ₹51,467.96, respectively, in relation to the two premises.
Learned counsel for the petitioner disputes this claim and contends that the demand is unfounded and without basis.
In view of the above, I am not inclined to enter into the merits of the dispute between the parties. Accordingly, liberty is granted to the petitioner to approach the Regional Grievance Redressal Officer, North 24 Parganas, WBSEDCL, within a period of two weeks from the date of this order.
If such a representation is made, the Regional Grievance Redressal Officer shall consider and dispose of the same in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of hearing to both the petitioner and a representative of WBSEDCL. This exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of one month from the date of receipt of the representation.
It is clarified that WBSEDCL shall not disconnect the electricity supply to the petitioner's premises for a period of two months from the date of this order or until a decision is rendered by the concerned authority, whichever is earlier.
Accordingly, WPA 498 of 2025 is disposed of.
