In view of the above, this court is inclined to hold that allowing the proceeding to continue shall be a futile exercise. Special Case No.68 of 2024 pending before the learned Additional District Judge-cum-Special Judge, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1st Court, Barasat, be quashed.

The petitioner be set at liberty at once and be discharged from his bail bond.
