In this purported public interest petition the petitioner stating himself to be a social worker has raised the plea that State Level Selection Test-2016 was conducted for appointment of assistant teachers for Classes IX and X in the recognised schools of State of West Bengal. According to the petitioner, large number of assistant teachers have been appointed, but the appointment is under challenge in writ petitions including WPA 13700 of 2021. The petitioner is seeking to protect the appointment of those teachers in the present public interest petition.

It is the settled position of law that in service matters the PIL cannot be entertained. That apart, we find that if any particular assistant teacher is aggrieved with any order or any action of the authority, then he/she can approach the competent court in accordance with law for redressal of the grievance. The petitioner is seeking a blanket order that too without any basis in this public interest petition.

Hence, we find no ground to entertain the present public interest petition, which is, accordingly, dismissed.
