The Purba Medinipur District Primary School Council, the respondent no.6 herein by a notice bearing Memo No. 365/HT, dated March 01, 2023 had notified preparation of panel for appointment of Head Teachers in Primary Schools in the said district.

The petitioner had applied for the said post and was empanelled according to her seniority in pursuance thereof, she has been appointed as the Head Teacher at Chhayghori New Primary School, under Nandigram South Circle.

The petitioner is praying that as she was working as a Teacher in charge of Daudpur Board Primary School, she should be appointed as the Head Teacher of the said school.

Rule 14 of the West Bengal Primary Teachers Recruitment Rules, 2016 governs the appointment of Head Teachers in Primary schools. The panel of Head Teachers under the

respondent no. 6 was prepared in terms of the said Rule and the petitioner, according to her seniority, was given appointment.

The respondent no. 6 has not violated the said Rule in appointing the respondent no. 11 as the Head Teacher of Daudpur Board Primary School.

The relevant Rule does not permit a candidate to make a choice of a school for appointment in the post of Head Teacher.

The writ petition is devoid of any merit, WPA 371 of 2024 is therefore dismissed without any order as to costs.
