The matter relates to contract carriage permit (auto rickshaw). The petitioner filed this application in 2007. He submits that his application has not been considered till date despite an order passed by this Court in W.P. 18272(W) of 2010 dated 10th February, 2011. The petitioner further submits that, subsequently there was a ban on issuance of permit but thereafter the ban was removed which he came to learn from an order passed by a Division Bench of this High Court in W.P. 23638(W) of 2017 dated 9th August, 2019. His grievance today is, though there is no ban now, the said application of 2007 has not been considered even after lifting of the ban. As nobody appeared for the State authorities in this matter, this Court requested Mr. Amal Kumar Sen,

learned advocate to appear in this matter to assist this Court. He has appeared and effectively assisted this Court by submitting that such old applications of 2007 has lost its force now i.e. after more than 13 years.

The petitioner has submitted in view of such submission made by the respondent that he should be granted liberty to file afresh for contract carriage permit (auto rickshaw). Nobody is preventing him from filing new application for such permit and if he files such an application within a period of four weeks from date, the same will be considered by four weeks thereafter in accordance with the present policy of the State after giving him an opportunity of hearing and communicate its decision to the petitioner within a period of four weeks thereafter.

With the above direction, WPA 635 of 2021 stands disposed of without any order as to costs. Engagement of Mr. Amal Kumar Sen, Advocate be regularized.
