Ms. Rajashree Tah ... for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioners submits that the petitioners are in custody for more than eleven months and there were recoveries of 73 kg of ganja from the possession of five persons including the present petitioners. Learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits that there were two vehicles from where recoveries were made: one belonging to West Bengal and the other relates to Odisha. According to the learned advocate, the petitioners were apprehended from the vehicle which had the registration number of West Bengal. Learned advocate also added that charge-sheet has already been submitted and evidence has started to expedite the process of trial.

Having considered the overall circumstances of the case, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioners on bail at this stage.

Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioners is rejected.

However, the petitioners be better advised to approach this court after the evidence of the seizure list witnesses is over.

The learned trial court is directed to prioritize the evidence of the seizure list witnesses.

Let this order be communicated to the learned trial court both by the learned advocate for the petitioners as well as the State so that steps are taken for expediting the evidence.

Accordingly, CRM(NDPS) 84 of 2026 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
