For the Petitioner The present case being AC-2902 of 2016 is pending before the ld. JM, 5th Court, Alipore for more than seven years. The case is under section 138 of the N.I. Act and the last of the orders reflect that date is fixed for crossexamination of the p.w.1. Having regard to the fact that the provisions under section 138 of the N.I. Act were brought in force for efficacy in banking transactions, I am of the view that the very object of the Act was the ground for speedy remedy to the present petitioner, who has suffered financial loss. Having considered that the present case is pending for about seven years, I direct the ld. JM, 5th Court, to fix one date in a month for the purposes of AC-2902 of 2016. The cross-examination of p.w.1 be concluded by 30th of April, 2024. Thereafter, the prosecution will place its witness and conclude its evidence by 31st of July, 2024. The

examination under section 313 of the cr.p.c. be concluded in the month of August, 2024. Three months time be granted to the defence to examine its witnesses. The verdict of the case be pronounced by 31st of December, 2024. With the aforesaid observations, CRR 98 of 2024 is disposed of.

Pending application, if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
