1. Affidavit-of-service filed in Court today be kept on record.

2. The writ petition has been preferred challenging the disconnection of two electricity connections of the petitioner with separate Consumer ID numbers for alleged nonpayment of dues of electricity charges.

3. During pendency of the writ petition, it is submitted that one of the connections have been restored upon the petitioner having made payment; regarding the other, an amount of Rs.1,70,000/- is still due. The petitioner has paid about 60,000/- in respect of the said meter as well. Pertaining to the other portion of the dues, learned counsel for

the petitioner seeks some time to clear off the same.

4. Keeping in view that the petitioner is a cultivator and may face financial constraints, WPA No. 568 of 2024 is disposed of by directing the petitioner to pay the balance amount of Rs.1,70,000/- by two equal monthly installments. The first of such installments shall be paid by March 15, 2024 and the next by April 15, 2024.

5. Upon the first installment being paid, the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) shall restore the electricity supply of the petitioner, which will be conditional, however, on the petitioner paying the balance amount by way of second installment on or before April 15, 2024.

6. It is made clear that the petitioner shall go on paying the current electricity charges after restoration of electricity supply.

7. In the event of non-payment by the petitioner of the second installment within the stipulated time and/or the current dues after restoration, it will be open to the WBSEDCL to disconnect the electricity supply of the petitioner.

8. It is made clear that this order shall not be treated as precedence in future matters.

9. There will be no order as to costs.

10. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities. (Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, J.)
